BIM Technician

HOWMZ is hiring a BIM Technician to turn our building models into the drawings that run our factory and our job sites. You will build detailed, heavily attributed models, maintain our Revit family library, and produce the shop drawings, detail drawings, plan sets, and permit packages that panels, pods, and assemblies are built from.

Because our homes are built as repeatable products, the documentation has to be clean, consistent, and unambiguous every time. That is why we are hiring you — to own that output and hold it to a standard the factory and the field can rely on.

Most builders frame every house from scratch, in the weather, and hope the subs show up. We do not. HOWMZ builds homes as engineered products. Panels, bathroom pods, and mechanical pods are fabricated to repeatable tolerances in our Heber City factory, then delivered to the site and assembled. Every industry has figured out how to deliver a better product at a lower cost. Construction has not. That is the problem we exist to solve.

• Your users are down the hall and up the road. The people in your designs are real, named, and thirty feet away. You watch them work, ship a change, and see it used the same week.
• The software is the product, too. Building homes as a repeatable system only works if the tools behind it are good. Design is not decoration here — it is how the system runs.
• You are early enough to set the standard. There is no legacy design system to inherit and no committee to route around. What you build becomes how HOWMZ software looks and works.
• AI as leverage, not as a substitute. You will use it hard, and you will be the judgment it does not have.
• Small enough to be heard. A good idea reaches the person who can act on it that same week.

• Generate detailed, heavily attributed models that serve as the source of truth for fabrication and construction.
• Build and maintain Revit families.
• Model MEP systems and coordinate them with structure and assemblies.
• Produce shop drawings for panels, pods, and assemblies.
• Create detail drawings that clearly show how things go together.
• Produce and maintain plan sets.
• Prepare permit and jurisdiction submittal packages.
• Maintain drawing standards and templates so output is consistent regardless of who produced it.

Required

• Strong CAD/BIM production skills in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Real experience producing shop drawings or construction documents.
• The ability to read a 3D model and pull clean, unambiguous 2D documentation out of it.

Helpful

• A residential construction background.
• Permit and jurisdiction submittal experience.
• Familiarity with light-gauge steel.
• Experience automating repetitive work with the help of AI.

Models, shop drawings, and plan sets leave your desk accurate and complete, the factory and field build from them without guessing, and permit packages move through jurisdictions without avoidable rework.

Salary to be determined based on experience.

Schedule: Full-time, on-site in the Heber City area, with regular time in the factory.
